Given an assignment to redesign an object of our choosing in my 2005 Human Factors class, I chose to redesign the projector control panels found in many Carnegie Mellon classrooms. Through observing a number of people interacting with the existing panel and by applying principles of human factors, I redesigned the panel as pictured below.
